SHIPRA BHATTACHARYA
The theme of desire has grown with Shipra Bhattacharya
through the years. Often her women are moored in a surreal
landscape, where the backdrop assumes a magnified mobility.
Burgeoning flowers with phallic connotations, butterflies, lush
verdure, all in strong contrasting colours are her forte.
After a BSc. degree she joined the
Govt. College of Art & Craft. She has had seven solo shows
and has participated in many national and international
exhibitions and has four publications on art to her credit.
SOHINI DHAR: Professor and Dean of visual arts at Rabindra
Bharati University, Kolkata she has participated in over 40
major exhibitions and has authored several papers and
publications on subjects as varied as Rasa in Indian art and on
Tagore.
