JOGEN CHOWDHURYJogen Chowdhury is amongst the senior artists to have an insight into the creative oeuvre of the Bengal school of Art. His distorted contours are a projection of an artiste's perception of human frailty. Unfailingly gifted with an artistic intuitiveness, his figures exude a resonating passion that is truly distinctive. Jogen Chowdhury was born in 1939. He won a scholarship from the French Government and studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Beaux Arts, Paris between 1965 and 1967. He has to his credit 26 one-man shows in different cities of India and abroad. Jogen is a recipient of 17 national awards which include Hawana Biennial, Cuba, and Shiromani award both in 1997.
