Dancing Brushes and Calcutta Salon
A journey through the
fertile climes of Bengal
a land imbued with the enduring
legacy of the creative and the cerebral.
It invites contemplation and an
acquaintance with one’s own self
- to experience the stirrings of the soul
- the sensibilities shaping life.
Amita Sahaya
Founder, Dancing Brushes
Dancing Brushes evolves as a center for art from the cultural organisation called The Calcutta Salon. Started in 2001, The Calcutta Salon, engages in activities centered around literature, music and painting. Its philosophy is to highlight the confluence of the Arts. The Calcutta Salon, was envisaged as a meeting ground where ideas and viewpoints would be exchanged and perhaps evolved.
The Calcutta Salon is based on the 18th century concept of a salon, and is a celebration of the arts. Annually the Salon has four events through which an effort is made to collaborate various art forms. The Calcutta Salon was conceptualised by Amita Sahaya, herself a writer, along with like minded people.
The first meeting of the Calcutta Salon was held 9th Feb. coinciding with the Kolkata Book Fair.
